8 Animal Fancy Dress Ideas for World Book Day!
Urgh it’s World Book Day again really soon. Not that I dislike it. It’s a great initiative and I absolutely love reading! But it means DIY costumes again! And this year I really don’t have the time or resolve for it! The theme at school is favourite animal character. So this is completely open. If you think “Oi Frog”, you could literally pick any animal.
I’ve enlisted the help of a few other bloggers who share their super simple DIY costumes. Failing that, I’ve also included a few from Amazon that would work! Note, these are affiliate links which means I get a small commission if you buy using the link.
Abi from Something About Baby shows us how to make a super simple Lion costume. I love the headband mane!
“I made my son a lion costume from Dear Zoo a few years ago. The headband is just bear ears with wool wound round it and the tail it just a bit of felt stuffed with a pom pom on the end! Very easy!”
This no-sew Parrot costume is so easy to make using fabric, a jacket and a glue gun!
This is a super easy idea using an umbrella and some fairy lights! How much fun is this.
This does involve a bit of sewing! Not much though!
If you don’t have the time or resolve for sewing a costume then these bits from Amazon are ideal. I love the giraffe headband!
So think the owl from the Gruffalo.
And worse case, if you still have no idea for fancy dress animals, try some superheroes. There’s Antman, Batman, Spiderman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! We just picked up a new Batman dressing up costume from ASDA.
Does your school pick a theme for World Book Day each year? Or can you go as any character you fancy? Last year the theme was pyjamas. Unfortunately it snowed so no PJs and no school!
