Encourage Kids to Read With The Happy Book Club!

Encourage Kids to Read With The Happy Book Club!

Hey hey and welcome. We are well and truly done with Christmas and 2019 is in full swing. B is back to school, and other than a few mishaps, he’s enjoying it. He actually told me he wanted to go back because he missed his friends. Aww. Not because he missed phonics and reading. No, not at all!

Ever since he started school we’ve struggled with getting him to do his reading. To be fair the books are really basic and a bit dull. But I get that the words focus on the phonics they are learning in class. When broken down, the words make sense. But B finds the books boring. And the last thing I want to do is have him interpret that to mean that reading is boring.

Because it isn’t!

I’ve always been a bookworm and we’ve read with B ever since he was a baby really. We’ve even made up our own games to help him learn his letters and phonics! And we’ve used tech and other games to help learning. We always make time for bedtime stories and there are books littered all over the house.

And so we were excited to feature The Happy Book Club on the blog this month. They’ve kindly sent us one of their two book subscription packages to share with our readers, as well as a package to giveaway. Get yourself over to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to enter multiple times!

What is The Happy Book Club?

The Happy Book Club is an online book shop where you can subscribe to one of their many book packages, or buy individual books and bundles.

Founder, Matthew Bull, set up The Happy Book Club in 2016 after his daughter was born. Both Matthew and his wife come from a teaching background and love reading to their daughter. They started building a collection of books at home and wanted to share that love of reading with other parents. And so The Happy Book Club was born!

Award-Winning Subscriptions

Subscription packages are becoming really popular and the thought of having books sent to our door each month is really appealing. We’ve always enjoyed reading with B and there aren’t many nights where we don’t have a bedtime story or three.

The Happy Book Club provide a range of subscription packages to choose from. The packages are really flexible, meaning you can choose how many books you want to receive each month, and for how long the subscription lasts. You can choose from 1 month, to 3, 6 and 12 month packages.

You also select your age range for the recipient. So from 0-1, 2-4 and 5-7 years.

As a parent who does not need any more plastic toys and tat around the house, I’d be super happy with receiving a book subscription as a gift for B!

Exciting Themes

Each subscription package has a secret theme, so you’re never sure what might arrive on your door step. We received the January bundle and much to B’s delight, it was pirate themed.

He was particularly excited about The Pirates Next Door because he says his class teacher reads this one at school.

Books and Bundles

If you don’t fancy the subscriptions then have a look at the bundles. Again they are all themed, and more importantly, child-approved. Themes range from pirates and dinosaurs to happiness and bedtime.

Or for individual books, you can filter by age range and price. There are loads of titles – some well known and some less so.

Book subscription packages are a great idea and we really enjoyed having these delivered right to our door. As soon as B opened the parcel up, he wanted to read. And anything that inspires a love of reading gets a massive thumbs up from me! I really like that each bundle is themed too. If you’re looking for gift ideas for children then these are certainly worth considering as an alternative to toys.

Be sure to enter our giveaways over on social media this month and win one of the two book subscriptions: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!
