How to Get Kids Excited About Travel with the Scratch the World® Activity Adventure Map!
I don’t know about you but I have always loved to travel and explore the world. I was lucky enough to head off to the States and Canada during University, and I spent a year abroad studying in Germany. I’ve always had itchy feet and still do to some extent. Having a little one meant I took a step back from travel. It was more Haven than Havana for a while.
This collaborative post with Maps International is one I am very excited about and proud to publish. Today we are sharing with you the ultimate Scratch-off Activity Map for little explorers. You can take a look at how we got on with our scratch map in this short video – we had a “smashing” time…excuse the pun.
See How my Little Explorer Gets on…
Again, massive apologies for the smashing – but hey, we like to capture the moment and keep things real.
Get the Kids Excited About Travel!
You may have seen the scratch maps designed for adults but this one is designed with kids in mind. This Scratch the World® Activity Adventure Map is super detailed, colourful and most importantly, fun for kids. As they scratch their way around the world, they’ll uncover cute cartoons, hidden destinations, and learn a little about places too. If your little one is like B then they will love it. He was so eager to get scratching!
To note, we have never been to the Easter Islands!
He takes after his mama and has a real thing for maps – well, treasure maps! Note the map wallpaper and map lamp below too.
See, I told you I was obsessed.
Let’s take a look at why these maps are perfect for inspiring little minds and busy explorers.
The Scratch the World® Activity Adventure Map is fab for planning future travel adventures. If you have summer holiday plans coming up then get your little ones excited before you go.
No, I’m afraid we aren’t off to Brazil!
Don’t forget about all the amazing and wonderful places you’ve visited too. Scratch off where you’ve been and reveal little cartoons and hidden treasures.
We haven’t been to Antarctica.
Even if your little one hasn’t traveled the world by the age of five, you can still have fun by scratching off some of your bucket list ideas. Or places mummy and daddy visited and enjoyed in peace and quiet?!
Alternatively, work your way around the world together, answering the quiz questions and learning about new places and adventures.
Remember the Fun Times
Show off your travel story by displaying your poster in the home. You could frame it to protect the rest of the scratch map from little hands…
A lot of our wall art consists of maps, documenting our travels and where we’ve been together. I love the idea of involving B as he grows older and learns more about the world.
Explore the World
The scratch maps provide the ideal opportunity to talk about travel and adventure with kids. I show B where I’ve been and he’s genuinely interested and asks questions. When I traveled to the States last year for work, he loved looking at where I’d been and seeing some of my photos of the airplane.
Daddy is heading to America soon too and B is excited about seeing where Dad will be located for the week.
If you have an inquisitive little one then these scratch maps are a lot of fun and are the perfect travel keepsake.
