8 Awesome Things to do This Spring and Easter!
It’s a cliche I know but how fast is the year going? Don’t worry, you don’t need to answer. It’s nearly Easter though. Where does time go? Again, don’t answer.
Anyways lovelies, today on the blog I’m sharing with you a list of fun things to do this Easter that won’t cost the earth. We have two weeks off school soon and we need some ideas up our sleeves! Oh and if you’re looking for non-chocolate ideas for kids this Easter then check out our bumper guide here!
Local Egg Hunts
Ah the mighty egg hunt. Have yourself your own little egg hunt looking for egg hunts in your local area. Try local Faceache groups for these. They can be pretty handy. Keep a look out in your local paper, and, if you’re a National Trust member, see where the Cadbury Egg Hunts will take place this year. They are set to host over 250 so there’s bound to be one near to you.
Geochaching is such a great way to explore your local area. I’ve written about geocaching a lot on my blog and I shared a beginners guide for geocaching with little ones here. If you’re not sure what it is, think global treasure hunt based on GPS. Or a bit like Pokémon Go but with actual treasure to find! Trust me, it’s fun and it gets you out and about.
It’s free and you can do it literally anywhere you like. With the days getting longer, and, hopefully warmer(!?) take the opportunity to get some fresh air this Easter time.
Dinosaur Ice Eggs
Now this is a really fun activity if the weather is warm! Or you could pop them in the bath. Basically grab some egg shaped silicon moulds, fill with coloured water, add some plastic dinosaurs. Freeze and then crack them open using play tools and whatnot.
We wrote up a short step-by-step guide with pics here.
Indoor Sensory Trays
If the weather is pants then why not create really simple sensory trays to play with indoors. Sensory play doesn’t need to mean messy play either! Simply grab a tray or shallow dish and fill it with bits and bobs centered round a theme. Have a look at this forest sensory tray we made here.
Grab a Bargain at a Car Boot Sale
If you’re a regular reader then you’ll know me and b love a bargain. And we absolutely love heading down to car boot sales once the weather gets warmer. Have a read here to find out how to go car boot shopping with a little one. And take a nose here to see what bargains we typically pick up!
Local Rescue Centre Open Days
Do a quick google search to see what animal and wildlife charities you have in the area. They often put on open days for a very small fee or donation. We like going to the Secret World open days in Somerset. You can read about our day out last year here.
Another great day out is your local city farm. We enjoy riding the train up to Bristol and heading to Windmill Hill City Farm. It is free (donation based) and they have plenty of animals to see, beautiful places to walk, and a yummy cafe to enjoy a spot of lunch in. Def check out where your nearest city farm is.
