The Perfect Personalised Gift – Postcode Map Prints

Hello lovelies and welcome to me and b. I hope your day is going well. If you’re a regular reader then you might know that I have a bit of a “thing” for maps.

I LOVE maps. I just adore them. Where possible, I always try and frame a map. A bit like this DIYΒ  Valentine’s map tutorial I wrote earlier this year. If you can’t be bothered to DIY it – and let’s be fair, who has the time these days?! – then continue reading because we’re sharing a very cute, personalised map print on the blog today.

And not just that, but we’ve teamed up with Maps International to give away a personalised map print too! Be sure to scroll to the end to enter or take a look here if you can’t wait and want to get one now!

Why I Love Maps

I’m not really sure why or where my map addiction began. I really enjoy looking at maps. I love the aesthetics of maps and I love exploring them from the comfort of my own home. I’m not exaggerating when I say I could spend hours looking at, and reading about maps.

Our study wallpaper is a map, the lamp is a map and compass, and I have various maps framed around the home. We even made our son a snack that looked like a map.

Why Maps Make Great Gifts

If you think about it, maps make amazing gifts. You can literally personalise a map and make it meaningful for, in my opinion, every member of the family and every friend you know!

The opportunities for personalisation are endless.

  • Where you and your other half met
  • The place you married
  • Where your child was born
  • A special holiday
  • Where you live
  • Your childhood/family home
  • A honeymoon location
  • Insert your own memory…

See what I mean?

These could apply to anyone really. Where there is a memory, there is a map!

Personalised Postcode Maps

Maps International offer personalised maps based on a specific postcode. We were excited to review a print based on our own postcode in Weston-super-Mare.

Here, take a look at the result:

You can personalise your map based on pretty much any location in Great Britain, and the prints are based on Ordnance Survey Explorer and Landranger maps.

Here is a close up.

The quality of the map is great and it looks awesome in the frame. This really will look fab on the wall in our lounge! Take a look at the type of style I go for here.

Pick a Colour

You have a choice of six colours to border your map. I choose cream as this works well anywhere in our home.

Write Something Meaningful

Depending on your memory, you’ll want to write something to sit underneath your map. I decided on House + Love = Home.

You can choose anything though. Just make sure you’ve got the correct spelling before you hit send!

Disclaimer: We were given a copy of a personalised map for the purpose of this review. All opinions are our own, and honest!

  1. Probably the church where we got married and both our children were christened as it would probably also cover where we live now which would be lovely

  2. I would choose where we live now as it’s the first proper home we’ve had, it’s where our family has been made

  3. I’d choose either my hometown or the area around Tower Bridge as I have so many amazing memories from there.

  4. I would either pick where my Mum grew up in Essex for her or if you can do abroad our holiday home in Marbella πŸ™‚

  5. My sister & her boyfriend have just bought their first home near Swindon so I’d buy one for them of their village.

  6. I’d have to choose between Dominican Republic (honeymoon) and Barcelona, the first place we took our little one abroad.

  7. I love Maps International! I’ve been eyeing up their vintage maps for a while. I would have to choose our current home as a location but personalise it as my son’s first home. We want to move in the future but take a little piece of ‘home’ with us.

  8. I would pick Seahouses in Northumberland as it’s my favourite place in the world, so beautiful and would love to live there one day.

  9. Id choose las vegas. We are getting married there in summer 2020 and would be a wonderfull inspiration to look at while we save up

  10. Being a hiker/walker and travel fan, our house is filled with maps – from OS maps, to world maps and art pieces of maps. I even decoupaged a chair in maps from Scotland! I am a total map geek!

These are lovely too, I think I would probably get the address of the halls of residence where me and my other half met. πŸ™‚

  11. I would choose a map of York – the place where hubby and I first talked about getting married, and where we moved to once we had!

  12. It would have to be where we live now in London as it’s our first family home with our daughter. My husband travels a lot for work and is really into maps and he shares this with our daughter so this would make a lovely gift for them both.

  13. It would have to be our static caravan in Wales as it is our relaxation from every day routine and it is where my daughter has a break from chemotherapy

  14. We will be moving later this year so I’d pick our current location – my family has lived in the area for 50 years so it would be a lovely little family history memento to mark our time in these parts.

  15. It would have to be my partners and my address as kids – we lived in the same road for 10+ years and never knew eachother! Years later we met, had 2 kids and have been together for over 10 years!

  16. I would chose my Grandparents house as we are now having to sell it due to my Grandma passing away on 12th March this year and my Grandad passing away November 2016. My Sister and I spent most of our childhood there.

  17. I would pick Phuket as that’s where me and my boyfriend were reunited after being separated for 6 months while he travelled Australia
