9 Must-Have Items for Crochet Beginners!
Hello lovelies and welcome to me and b. Crochet is a hobby I love and I don’t think I’ve ever written about it on the blog. We share recipes for bumble bee cookies and we share tips and tricks for making bunting, but crochet, nope. Today though I’m going to share some of my tips and tricks for learning to crochet, as well as some of the bits and bobs which help me when working on a project.
Each item takes you direct to Amazon (affiliate links) and they are genuinely items I’ve used or purchased in the past!
First up, the book which taught me everything I need to know about crochet.
This book is awesome because it’s easy to read and follow and Debbie tackles all the questions I’ve shouted out in a wool-rage!
Next up, invest in decent hooks. I love the aluminium hooks as they are lightweight and I find them comfy. This set is ideal as it gives you loads of different sizes. If you don’t want loads of hooks, pick a 4mm or so to start with.
Row counters are super useful if you’re making amigurumi characters or if you need to count stitches for blankets and clothes.
Stitch markers are fab for remembering where a row begins or ends. Get them, trust me!
You can pick wool up anywhere these days. From the pound shops to Amazon and Aldi. I like this set of 12 x 50g balls of assorted Double Knitting yarn. Pick double knitting as it is a bit thicker.
Once you start buying your crochet essentials, you’ll need somewhere to store them all. This cute bag is ideal!
If you’re making amigurumi then you might want to invest in some eyes to bring character to your mini creations.
If you want to get started with Amigurumi then pick up a book online and have a go at all the cute projects.
