Christmas is all about giving. Isn’t it? It absolutely is for us and each year there are more and more ways you can help someone out there who is less fortunate than you. And it doesn’t have to cost the earth. Just a smile might make someone’s day. Today on the blog we’re looking at some different ways to spread the magic this Christmas. And if you are worried about the presents, why not consider non-toy gift ideas? We share 150 here!
The Reverse Advent Calendar
Yes that’s correct, a back to front advent calendar. Instead of taking something out each day, you pop something in. Grab a box and add a dried food or household item each day. Think pasta, tinned tomatoes and veg, nappies, toothpaste, sanitary care etc. The aim is to then drop it off at your local foodbank on Dec 24th.
I’m not a smoothie drinker but I absolutely love seeing all the mini bottles decorated with knitted and crocheted bobble hats! If you want to help raise money for Age UK then why not get your needles and hooks out and give it a go. There’s loads of patterns online and money raised goes to help people at local Age UK centres around the UK. They’ve raised over £2 million since starting this campaign!
Volunteer Your Time
I know it seems crazy at one of the busiest times of the year but giving the gift of time can be really helpful to so many charities at this time of the year.
Local Toy Collection
See what’s going on in your local area in terms of toy collecting. Typically the hospitals collect toys and perhaps check with your local children’s centre.
Donate to Charity Shops
What better reason to have a pre-xmas clear out?! Have a good sort out and taken your unwanted items down to the local charity shops.
I don’t just mean anyone but perhaps someone in your family who might be alone this Christmas. Pick up the phone and give them a ring.
No matter how big or small, a random act of kindness really can make a difference in someone’s day.
