“My Golden Ticket” by Wonderbly – The Perfect Personalised Treat!
If you’re a regular me and b reader then you’ll know that we LOVE books and we love reading. Today on the blog though we’re reviewing a very exciting book – “My Golden Ticket” by Wonderbly.
And before I start with our review, look out for a very special giveaway during December! As part of the “12 Days of Parenting” series, we will be giving away two copies of this special story!
It looks lovely, it smells divine and it feels just perfect. I’m super old school when it comes to books. I like proper books. Non of this Kindle thing. I like to hold a book and I like to inhale the pages. There is something magical about picking up a book and knowing that I have so many pages to go. I just can’t imagine that “you’re 35% of the way through” would cut it for me!
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Here we Come!
“My Golden Ticket” is based on the famous book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl. Now let me be clear, it IS NOT a rehash of the original story. This book is different in that it is fully personalised. And when I say fully, I don’t just mean your kid’s name printed at the front. I mean they feature through the whole story. From discovering their own unique candy, to a personalised Oompa Loompa song and a Wonkafied family tree!
The book is essentially their own special journey through the factory! Every story is truly unique to your child.
As you wander through the factory, you’ll discover new rooms and exciting new secrets. Every page is packed with so much detail and there are many things to read and look at. The illustrations and images are really beautiful too. It’s a really visually pleasing book!
I’ve found reading it with B has been good for going through some of the alphabet with him. As he just started school in September, there is more and more emphasis on reading and recognizing our letters. We found the book was a nice way of encouraging him to take notice of different letters and he enjoyed looking at the different fonts, noticing that the same letters sometimes look very different!
A Longer Read
This book is aimed at ages 5 to 12 years. It is a longer read and if you have younger children you might want to split the story up over a few bedtimes. As you can see from the images above, the layout and text is just so lovely and it’s fun to read with little ones. B loved the craziness of it and the whole idea of a whole factory, dedicated to sweets!
A Visual Treat!
The book is beautiful. The paper is thick and it smells of delicious sweetness. You can add to your order a scented postcard too. You can see b sniffing this below!
It’s a book that you can easily spend time browsing through, admiring all the colours. I absolutely love the fonts and little sketches and doodles too. B has really enjoyed looking through and having us read this to him. It is a book which will certainly last a while. We’ve been introducing him to the wonderful world of Roald Dahl and I’m looking forward to watching the film with him too!
Have you read any books by Wonderbly? The extent to which you can personalise these books makes them the ideal book for children this Christmas!
