Our Review of the GeoSafari Jr Science Utility Vehicle
If you’re a regular me and b reader then you might know that my son, little b, loves anything science related. From microscopes, engineering and solar system fruit snacks, you name it, if it’s science related, B loves it! We’ve been really lucky to work with Learning Resources and they asked us to put the GeoSafari Jr Science Utility Vehicle to the test. B and I were excited because it meant we got to look at bits and bobs close up, and play with a car!
B was really excited to take his vehicle for a drive around the house and garden, and explore what was around him in more detail. Before you get going, you need 2 AAA batteries so you can use the light. It’s best to put these in before you start playing or you end up with a whingy toddler.
Once you’ve inserted your batteries, you can see your specimens much better with the night-vision LED lights. The knob on the front of the vehicle makes it easy for toddlers to switch between white and red light. And by specimens I mean Lego men, cars and bits of food!
We even took our vehicle on our recent holiday to Ladram Bay Holiday Park. B enjoyed studying things he found on the beach.
Putting our vehicle to the test indoors and out!
You can use your vehicle both inside and out. We played with this indoors and it’s amazing what “specimens” you can find on your carpet 😉
B then liked to play with it outside, looking at the grass, mud and patio slabs. We collected a few items to study – a snail shell, a rock, a daisy and some mud.
What we love about the GeoSafari SCience Utility Vehicle
Like with other GeoSafari toys we’ve played with, it has no small, fiddly parts for little ones to get frustrated with. The colours are bright, the toy is sturdy and it is easy to use with minimal mum help.
what b really wanted to do with the truck…
B wanted to put toys inside the vehicle and he managed to stuff a few in, meaning they got stuck. We got them out but I worried he’d scratch the magnifying piece. My son is nearly 4 so maybe with time he will stop ramming things in to the back of the truck!?!
The magnifying glass says x3 magnification and you can obviously see it has magnified the item but I wouldn’t say it makes your specimen huge.
STEM learning and play
Overall, the GeoSafari Jr Science Utility Vehicle is a fun toy to inspire STEM learning and an interest in the world. It’s sturdy, it’s brightly coloured and it’s a great way of combining learning through play.
Have you played with any of the GeoSafari range?
