Ok so hands up who remembers watching the Smurfs in the 80s? Yep, now I’m showing my age! To be honest, I wasn’t sure they were popular anymore, let alone that a new movie is set to release this summer! And it seems that there have been a few movies before too. I guess I was never into animated film pre-b. When we were asked to give our thoughts on a new range of Smurf toys by Schleich, we were excited to try them out!schelich smurf house lost village review toys for toddlers

Schleich have put together a cute range of collectable Smurf toys so you can bring the new movie to life in your own home. This little play house is complete with a toadstool roof, open and close windows and doors and even a tiny key. Be sure to place that key somewhere safe if you don’t want little ones losing it.

The playset comes complete with a few figures too – Papa Smurf, Gargamel and his little cat, Azrael. B loved this as he adores our cats, and in particular Jerry cat. Jerry cat likes to get in on the action too and follows b pretty much wherever he goes.

This little Smurf house is made of really durable plastic. Once you open the box, there are quite a few pieces that need to be assembled. It takes around 15 minutes to put together. If you have an impatient toddler, I suggest putting it together before they see it.

The pieces are pushed into place as the plastic is flexible. It still took me quite a bit of pushing and wriggling to get the pieces to fit properly though. The door frame and door didn’t fit flush against the house at first but after more pushing, and swearing under my breath when the windows popped out, it finally sat in place!

We found with play some of the pieces fell off but I think it’s because I hadn’t really secured them in properly. We definitely needed some daddy help here. It’s not hard to replace the windows and doors if they pop out but this frustrated b a bit as he couldn’t put them in himself.

The roof sits on top of the little house and if you push it down quite hard it stays put. If not, it is easy to lift and place back on. Ideal for little hands.schelich smurf house lost village review toys for toddlers
The design of the house is super cute and would look really good in a fairy garden! These type of houses are great for imaginative play and b loved putting his other toys inside the house and pretending to lock them in with the key. Even some of our dinosaurs visited for tea! In terms of pretend play and opportunities for creativity, this little Smurf house ticks all those boxes.

Schleich toys are well made and full of details but they can be pricey. This little house has an RRP of £29.99.
