It’s that time of the year again for resolutions, goals, aims and aspirations for the year ahead. Have you set yourself any resolutions or are you more of a “go with the flow” type? To be honest I’m a bit lazy when it comes to specific New Year resolutions. I’ve made them in the past and they tend to dissipate by February, along with any Christmas chocolate. I do have some goals for the blog and i do have a me and b bucket list of things we want to do this year.
I find it much more manageable to set myself daily or weekly tasks or goals. So things I want to achieve, which, for me, are realistic and actually doable. Walking for twenty minutes at lunchtime is doable. Making the effort to try a new recipe once per week – now that’s doable. Vowing to “eat clean” and run for an hour each evening is just never going to happen right now.
Today I’ve collected together some of my favourite infographics and charts to share with you. For me, they make resolutions a bit more manageable.
Let’s start with eating because this is the focus of so many resolutions. So many of us vow to cut down on sugar, stop drinking alcohol and reduce our fat intake. For me it’s finding something that is sustainable long-term. There’s no point in telling myself that I will never drink a glass of wine again. It ain’t happening. I love this food swaps chart at My Fitness Pal Blog, which gives some simple ideas for alternatives to carbs. I’ve been meaning to try a courgette lasagne for ages. 2017 is the year I do…
Drink More Water
I love drinking sparkling water but even more for, this sometimes gets dull and I reach for a Red Bull. If there is one thing I’d love to do in 2017, it’s cut out the Red Bull. This chart at Prime Natural Beauty provides such a lovely visualisation of spicing up your water using fruit and veggies that even I might be tempted to give it a go.
If your New Year resolution is to exercise and move more then these infographics are ideal. I particularly love this one because you don’t need any gym equipment to get going. The aptly titles “Anywhere Workout” is just that!
This next article brings together a number of exercises and moves you can do to relieve back pain. I sit in front of my laptop for hours each day and anything I can do to strengthen my back is a bonus. I used to practice Yoga a lot when I was younger but I just became busy with mum stuff and work stuff.
Yeah right, with a toddler?! I know this seems a mamouth goal but I want to try and sleep better. I know that is difficult when you have a toddler who likes to wake up at any time during the night for a drink, a wee, a tissue, a cuddle. But there are changes i can make to at least improve the quality of my sleep.
I really like these 9 tips for improving sleep quality from Free Fitness Tips. And no surprises, they fit in with all the other things I’d like to try and change about my lifestyle this year!
In 2017 I want to work harder, work smarter and continue to learn. I’m loving this infographic and blog post at Lifehack – 10 Powerful Habits of Ultra Successful People. These tips are a great reminder of how I can make small changes every day.
Are there any other resolutions or life areas that you are looking to improve or better I 2017?! What are your resolutions? Feel free to share them with me in the comments.
