What’s your favourite Christmas movie?
I absolutely LOVE Home Alone. It reminds me of being a kid and watching that film with my sister. We always felt sad that we couldn’t sledge down the stairs. Our stairs turned a corner and ended at a wall…
Have you ever had a White Christmas?
I grew up in the South East of England….nope.
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
We alternate between my parents and the hubby’s parents. It means travelling about a bit but we don’t mind really.
What is your favourite Christmas song?
I really love the Mariah Carey song “All I want for Christmas is You” – it reminds me of being a kid and it always makes me feel festive and happy. And it reminds me of the cheesy Love Actually ending 🙂
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
No! That would be cheating! I know Christmas Eve boxes are popular but my boy gets so much through the year and on Christmas Day that I just don’t think he needs more presents. I’m sure he would disagree.
Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Erm Rudploh, Donner, Blitzen…and I don’t know anymore.
What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
I really love Christmas Eve. I like to have a last minute mooch around the town, a glass of wine in the pub and a picky buffet for tea. I love watching the snowman or popping a film on with the little guy now too.
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake. It’s been fake ever since the hubby ruined Christmas one year by launching our real tree across the garden. He was in a rage because the tree wouldn’t go in the tree holder thingy. He’d chopped off so much of the trunk that it had no bloody trunk. This photo pretty much sums up the last time we had a real tree…
What’s your all-time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?
I’m not a huge fan of all the Christmas food :/ I don’t like mince pies and can take or leave things like Christmas cake and pudding. I don’t overly care for turkey either. I love a good cheese board and I love all the posh party food you can buy this time of year. Some of the food I’m looking forward to trying is listed here!
Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?
I like giving. I hate opening presents while everyone is watching. And I just don’t need more stuff! I absolutely love watching my son open his pressies now – the anticipation and happiness on his face is perfect…
What is the best Christmas present you have ever received?
The present that meant the most to me was a ring my husband gave me on Christmas morning when I was pregnant. He knew how difficult the first few months had been for me and it was just so thoughtful of him. Completely unexpected. Of course I couldn’t wear the ring for ages because my fingers went all fat and crap while I was preggers.
What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
I’d love to go somewhere warm and exotic or I’d be up for somewhere like the Cotswolds. I’d love to just stay in a country hotel like The Swan in Bibury for a few days, being waited on hand and foot.
Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
I’m really good at wrapping.
Most memorable holiday moment?
Telling the hubby’s family on Boxing Day that we were expecting a baby and showing them the scan photo. They couldn’t believe it. In fact Mr d’s sister said she expected their parents to announce a pregnancy before me and d. They all thought we’d photo-shopped the scan pic too.
What made you realise the truth about Santa?
I can’t remember really. I guess you wonder for a few years and then you start to think “yeah, there’s no way some man, on a sleigh, is delivering presents all around the world tonight!”
What makes the holidays special for you?
Family, friends and time off work to relax : )
