How to Make Christmas Pudding Cracker Canapés!
So next weekend I’m having a bit of a Christmas party for the little man. It started out small and it slowly got a bit bigger.
To get ready for the little “party” I thought I’d have a think as to what fun food I could prepare for the children. These Christmas Pudding Oreos will be perfect!
Easy Savoury Snacks!
One of the ideas I came up with was Christmas Pudding Cracker Canapés. They were easier to prepare than they sound – promise. And the added bonus is that they might encourage the little ones to eat a bit of veg rather than snack on crisps and extra crisps. And I say a “bit” of veg because im talking three teeny tiny bits of pepper and about a quarter of a cucumber slice.
To make these Christmas Pudding Cracker Canapés all you need is the following:
- Round crackers – I used cheese thins.
- Cheese spread – I used an ASDA own brand which was flavoured with cracked black pepper. Although b likes pepper, this did not go down well with him. Note to self, don’t use this again!
- A red pepper.
- Some cucumber.
- A thick straw.
Here’s how to make them!
First up, prepare your pepper. Slice it into thick pieces and use your straw to press out tiny red circles. These will make your holly berries.
Slice your cucumber into thin circles and halve these. Then slice the halves into four small triangular pieces. These will make your holly leaves.
Next spread cheese spread on roughly a third of the cracker. Now comes the only “tricky” bit…use the straw you used to make berries, to kind of make little “dents” in the cheese spread. You might want to use a bit of kitchen roll to wipe up any smudges.
To finish off your puds, add three berries and a couple of the holly leaves.
And voila, easy Christmas Pudding Cracker Canapés! The kids will love them! Just don’t use the cracked black pepper cheese. Oops.
