What NOT to Buy New Parents this Christmas!
And trust me, they’ll thank you for it!
I don’t know about you but when we had the little dude, I found people tended to get the same bits and bobs that first Christmas. We were either inundated with “baby’s first Christmas stockings” or overrun with wooden puzzles. If you are planning to get a gift for a friend or family member who had a baby, stick to clothes.
So here are my SIX things I wouldn’t get new parents for Christmas. Do you agree or are their other gifts you would avoid?!
Go easy on the “Baby’s First Christmas” gifts. Yes it’s exciting and all but personally I don’t need “Baby’s First Christmas” everything!
Shoes – maybe it’s just me but the little man pretty much wore socks until he could walk.
Toys – take a look at this post-Christmas 2014 photo. ‘Nuff said.
Wooden shape puzzles. Argh. We had SOOOOO many of these and b had zero interest. He’d throw the puzzle bits everywhere and mr d and I would then have to actually do the puzzles to tidy up.
Ditch the Aeroplane Spoons
Novelty cutlery – Irritating, the wrong shape. No no no.
Toys that aren’t age appropriate. Honestly, if it says 3+ and you are buying for a 6 month old, it probably isn’t going to be suitable. I’ve been guilty of buying toys that are more suited for older kids. But I find now it just leads to frustration and toy throwing.
What gifts wouldn’t you buy for someone who will be celebrating their baby’s first Christmas this year? Is your lounge flooded with random wooden puzzle pieces too?
