The Water Park in Weston is Perfect on a Hot Day!
If you are local to Weston-super-Mare and have kids, you definitely should check out the Water Park along the seafront. Pre-b I never even knew this place existed. Honestly! I heard children shouting and screaming and my insta-avoid radar kicked in. However, I am a mum now and my “seek out kid stuff ” radar is on.
A few weeks ago on my day off, I’d planned to take b to the park (not the water park) after my morning at the nursery for Family Week. I’d kind of semi-packed a bag but I hadn’t planned on visiting the water park. It was only when we rocked up at the usual park that b said he didn’t want to go to that park and could we go to the one with the castle. Me being stupid, agreed, and off we trotted down to the seafront. It was a mistake for a number of reasons:
1 – It was half term. So instead of a quiet park, it was ram-packed.
2 – It was sunny. So it was super ram-packed.
And 3 – I wasn’t fully prepared. No towel, no swim shorts, no huge amount of snackage.
But as you can see from our photos below, we actually had a really nice afternoon together!
The water park costs a couple of quid to enter – not each, just for the child – but you get access to not just the playground bits but the water park bit. If the weather is really good, the kids absolutely love it. Why didn’t we have stuff like this when I was growing up ey?!
King of the Castle!
Little man particularly likes the wooden castle and was excited to explore that. Really it is for the older kids but off he went and was quite happy playing with…yep some wooden “bits” in a hole in the castle walls. He literally spent half an hour just picking bits out, giving them to me and telling me they were ice-cream. Whatever makes him happy ey!
We also enjoyed a little splash in the water 🙂 B is a bit wary though and I find he never really lets himself “go”. He always holds back a bit. Here he is enjoying the jets though 🙂
If you are down this way in the summer then I highly recommend stopping for a few hours here. It’s a lot of fun!
Things to know too before you go:
- There is an onsite café for drinks and snacks if you forget to pack enough of your own!
- Your entrance ticket is valid all day so you can come and go.
- There are toilets and a changing cubicle onsite.
- There is parking right next door and I am pretty sure an hour costs £1.20 or very close to that.
- You are right on the beach so you could literally make a full day of it 🙂
- Don’t forget a towel and a change of clothes!
