Reasons Why I Like Living in Weston-super-Mare – Really!
Goodness, anyone would think I work for the bloody council or the tourism board down here. I really don’t. I have however, come to appreciate what we have around us. It’s all too easy to focus on the negative and crap things. I think if anyone were to look at what is wrong with where they live, they’d find plenty. I’ve been trying hard to focus on the good though, and so far, I see plenty of good here. Other than fantastic walks with kids and loads to do this summer, here are some of my PRACTICAL reasons for choosing Weston-super-Mare as our home.
Weston seems to, at the moment, have it’s own little property-price bubble. For us, this is ideal. We are moving at the moment and the type of home we want here would cost a lot more if you went a few miles up the road to Clevedon, Portishead or Bristol. Yes it means we commute a tiny bit further but for what you get in Weston compared to other places in this area, I’d much rather settle here.
Great links to Bristol and Bath
Continuing on from point one, Weston serves as a commuter town for a number of cities and towns. It’s within driving distance of Bristol and Bath, but also south, to Taunton and the surrounding areas. There are also great train links and I used to use the park and ride off the M5 a lot when I was younger.
There’s loads to do for families with kids. There really is! We have so much coming up this summer, and what’s more, most of it is free! We are super lucky. If you’re heading to Weston, check out the Water Park!
The beach all year round
You have the sandy seafront and if you fancy a swim, you have Marine Lake. For something further afield, you have the Marina at Clevedon. And of course, my favourite beach, Sand Bay.
Every supermarket you’d ever need
I know for some people this isn’t a plus but personally for me, I really like that we have a lot of choice in Weston. We really do have one of each of the main supermarkets within a few miles of each other. We also have the major home stores and discount stores and every DIY shop you’d need. I also love Worle high street for a mooch round all the charity shops.
There’s a lot of refurbishment going on in the town at the moment and I really hope they put some thought in to how to attract some decent shops to Weston.
So there are a few reasons why, practically, I like living here 🙂 What do you like about your home town?
