Making Turtles out of Fruit!
Did you know that today is World Turtle Day? It is sponsored yearly by the American Tortoise Rescue, aimed at bringing attention to both turtles and tortoises.
I thought it would be fun to experiment with some fruit and create some cute turtles of our own. When I was a kid I actually had a tortoise. Our cat found him, hibernating in the mud at the back of the garden when we moved house. We called him Thomas.
I suppose I should really be creating Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles – yes I know they are ninja but when I was at school they were hero, so tough haha. Honestly, I haven’t really had the time or energy to think about ninja turtle snacks recently. Mum life has truly got me after going back to work! And there are loads on Pinterest if you google it 😉 I’ll have a think and come up with something unique… 🙂
How did we make our little turtle?
Well, we used a handful of grapes, sliced in half, to make his shell. I then added some strawberries for his flippers. I used my trusty edible ink pen to draw on eyes. You can read more here about adding eyes to food! It’s easy too!
