Sand Bay and Weston Woods

I’ve lived in Weston-super-Mare for 13 years now and it’s only recently that I’ve come to appreciate the beauty that I have right on my doorstep. For years I felt like I was missing out because I didn’t live in a city. For ages I pestered Mr D, telling him our lives were boring and we needed to move to the city if we wanted good jobs. The city being Bristol, or closer to London. I also thought that taking a year out or moving abroad completely would sort out my feelings of discontent. I was wrong. All I needed to do was look at what I have right in front of me, and also realise that the grass isn’t always greener. Right now, for the first time in years and years, I can say I feel content and happy with what I have right here.

And that leads me to my post today. My hidden gem of Weston-super-Mare. That being the beautiful Sand Bay. Now I’ve been to Sand Bay before but I’d only walked along the top and I’d never been to the end of the beach up near Weston Woods. I didn’t realise there was a car park there and had always parked in the one further along Sand Bay, near to the tea rooms (which are really nice for a cuppa and a cake!). Here is a map where I circled both car parks. It is the bottom one we discovered! And the best thing, they are free 🙂 The postcode for the area is BS22 9UR if you need it.

I met some of my good mum friends there a few weeks ago and it was lush. Absolutely lush. Although we had a mix-up with car parks as I’d parked at my regular one and my friends were at the other one. Oops!

Here are some photos from our trips to Sand bay and the woods. If you are in the area, I’d def recommend heading up there for some quiet, less commercialised, beach action 🙂

  8. You sound a bit like me, I live in a seaside town too (east Devon so not a million miles away) and always felt like I was missing out until recent years – now I feel incredibly lucky to be able to raise my family somewhere so beautiful and on the coast. Sand Bay looks wonderful. Thank you for sharing #KCACOLS
