Little b seems to have a complete aversion to breakfast cereal at the moment. He typically has rice crispies or Cheerios but recently he’s been turning his nose up at these – “I likeeeee itttt” – little b code for I DONT like it! To be fair I’m not a huge cereal fan myself. I hate milk – and dry cereal just doesn’t work. So I’ve tried a few tricks – mixing in a few coco pops/the advent calendar bribe/variety packs. He just isn’t fussed.
We recently stayed at Center Parcs and did a “feed the reindeer” activity. Little man was wary at first but soon got into it once the reindeers took the feed from his hands.
The feed inspired me to try some Magic “Reindeer” Food Cereal Cones!
All you need to make these Magic Reindeer Cones is:
- Cellophane party bags and ties – I found these on eBay for a couple of quid. I imagine you can pick them up in the pound shops or on the high street.
- Red pom poms. They sell packs of pom poms in most of the pound shops.
- Eyes. See above!
- Various cereal.
I pretty much grabbed a mix of cereal and you can see in the photo we have rice crispies, shredded wheat and Cheerios. I added one or two yogurt covered cranberries to tempt him too :/
Mix your cereal up and pop it in the cones. Tie the top and stick the eyes and pom pom noses on. I uses some sticky dots but double sided tape would work too.
And there you go, super cute Reindeer Cones for breakfast! I popped them in a basket and each morning, b could pick his reindeer. You could mix it up with different coloured noses or something equally silly 🙂
What tricks do you use to try and entice your little one to eat?!
Update: We are a year on. B is now 3 and he still faffs with cereal. I will be trying these again this year!
