So little B spends most week days at nursery. He eats really well there but still wants something small when he gets home at half five. I often create him a little “snack” box for when he gets home. I typically cut food into small pieces, use shapes and silicon cup case holders. A food pick works really well in these boxes as he loves to spear the small bits of fruit and veg. Today we have pepper, cherry tomatoes, satsuma pieces, yogurt and some small chicken pieces.
There are literally so many things you can include:
Protein: Chicken, ham, meat, fish, a handful of nuts
Carbs: Crackers, pasta, noodles, rice, bread, bagels
Dairy: Cheese, yogurt or a boiled egg
Veggies: Pepper, carrot sticks, cucumber slices, cherry tomatoes, celery
These “meals” take all of five minutes to make on an evening and add a bit variety and fun. Tonight the tomatoes were winners. The peppers not so much.
Do you find your little one gets home from school or nursery and is still hungry! B eats all day at nursery and always wants more. I find making these little boxes before he gets in really helps with the “I want food and I want it now” whinges that I get!
